If you are studying for a degree in electronic engineering, systems, engineering, physics, computer studies or maths, we’re keen to hear from you. We offer:

  • Industrial placements lasting between six and 12 months depending on your university course
  • Summer placements which are typically eight weeks between July and September.

Real projects - real money

You will receive an excellent monthly salary while you are with us and you’ll be working on real projects giving you the opportunity to learn and develop new skills. At a time in your life when you’ll be trying to establish where you’d like to take your career, we have over 400 projects open at any one time, allowing you to experience a variety of work and establish what interests you most.

Making it easy

Plus, we’re happy to help get you settled if you need to be away from home to complete your placement. We can help you find accommodation and there is a free shuttle bus available to help you get to and from Roke. You’ll also get to meet and work with graduates who can give you an insight into what post-university life is like and world-class engineers who can help inspire your future ambitions.

Entry requirements

To make it to interview you will:

1Have achieved well above average performance in A Level examinations, and demonstrate the ability to achieve a 2:1 or equivalent in your degree course

2Ideally be in your 2nd or 3rd year , studying a full-time degree course in Electronic Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or Mathematics (or a related discipline). However, if you are at the close of your 1st year of study or studying part-time you are still welcome to apply.

3Already have some practical experience of electronics or software, so that during your placement useful work can be conducted in the laboratory under the supervision of an engineer.

The small print: You must have the unrestricted right to live and work in the UK. In order to obtain full security clearance with no exclusions, candidates should ideally be a British Citizen however you can hold another nationality and have resided in the UK for the last 5 years.
